Fad Diets in Disguise
The next time I hear someone say “It’s all about calories in, calories out. Just eat less and exercise more!”, I might get violent. Well, not really ;-). But seriously, this approach is the health and fat loss equivalent of using a rotary phone when an iPhone is available. It’s limited and archaic.
If you’ve ever tried to lose weight you know that hunger and cravings are the biggest hurdles, and unless those are under control, it’s really f*ing hard to make progress without being miserable. The BIGGEST problem I see when clients come to me struggling to lose fat is not that they are overeating, but that they aren’t eating ENOUGH OF THE RIGHT FOODS!
The weight loss industry (which I like to refer to as the “Bikini Industrial Complex” – thank you @jensapel for that term) profits off short-term results and instant gratification keeping you in the cycle of losing and gaining, rinse and repeat. The result may be less weight, but also less muscle, and less muscle mass = a slower metabolism so this is not good! Fad diets also leave you with the same damn cravings, emotional eating, and addictive food behaviors because they don’t address the root causes.
Excess weight is a symptom of other problems and if we want healthy bodies (notice I didn’t say skinny bodies) and healthy relationships with food, the root causes MUST be addressed. Our brains and bodies can be retrained to crave the foods we need to thrive and we can do this by eating enough of the right nutrient-dense real foods. I have always had a big appetite which is even bigger when I’m working out more, so trust me when I say that trying to eat like a bird is no fun and not realistic or healthy for 99% of us.
Self-care, quality sleep, hydration, and stress management also play a huge role here because if you’re exhausted and/or stressed out all the time, you will crave starchy/sugary/empty calorie foods ALL THE DAMN TIME. And how many calories do sleep and stress have? The answer is zero, but we are exponentially more likely to overeat and crave junk foods if we’re overstressed or under slept.
Many people embark on detoxes or cleanses in January hoping that these will be better than previous fad diets they’ve tried, but sadly most of these programs are just as bad and sometimes worse. They usually include things like juice fasting (hello blood sugar nightmare), calorie restriction, or buying packaged foods and drinks, none of which will improve your health, reduce inflammation, or nourish you on a cellular level long-term. More importantly, they don’t teach you how to honor and love your body and stop measuring your value as a person by a number on a scale.
Yes, I’m telling you all of this because I think you should try my program, but that’s because I’m offering you something totally different here and I’ve seen it work for myself and for hundreds of my clients. I created the Reboot Your Bod 21-Day detox to give you all the tools that helped me change the way I eat and to help you avoid the confusion and mistakes I made before I knew better. It’s designed to nourish you on a cellular level and optimize your body’s natural detoxification processes so you can start feeling more vibrant and energized.
Yes, it requires some cooking and food prep, but you know what? If you aren’t willing to prioritize your health by preparing some simple, easy, real food a couple times a week, you’re just not ready to make big changes right now, and that’s ok. Just know that I’m here for you when you are.
You don’t need this or any other fancy programs to make healthy choices, but it’s nice to have everything spelled out for you at first to save you the guesswork. I’ve given you everything you need to kick start a new way of eating and living including shopping lists, recipes, daily cheat sheets, community support and one-on-one support from me. You even have lifetime access to the program so you can do it when the timing is best for you and repeat it whenever you please.
Keep in mind that this is NOT a weight loss program. While most participants do lose a few pounds because of reduced inflammation, this is not a calorie restricted program so if you’re looking for a quick fix New Year diet, this is not for you. If you want to nourish your body, learn some new skills, change your food mindset and break addictive behaviors, then you’re in the right place and I’m excited for you to join me!
Prep Week for the January group Reboot starts Monday, Jan. 3 and week 1 starts Jan. 10. Join by 11:59pm on Dec. 31 and use coupon code BYE2021 to save $40. Registration closes on Jan 4 at 9pm.
Here’s what a few of my Rebooters have to say:
“This reboot has taught me how good healthy food can be. I really CAN eat satisfying foods that will improve my overall health. It makes me just really feel good about myself.” – Donna T.
“After having been referred by a friend to Jeannie's Reboot Detox, I was initially both skeptical and intrigued. I wasn't trying to "diet," but my body wasn't responding in the same ways, and my autoimmune disorder was an ever-present reminder that what I eat matters. Jeannie's Reboot Detox is an opportunity to educate yourself while eating delicious meals that make you forget the foods you thought you couldn't live without. Inflammation is responsible for much of what we experience as illness, and I have forever changed the way I eat as a result of that knowledge. My partner and I make it a commitment to detox every year, and we would highly recommend Jeannie's Reboot Detox to anyone!” – Jillane T.
“In addition to learning new healthy swaps I’ve lost 6.6 lbs and 5 inches overall! 2.5 inches from my waist. I feel so much more in control of my snacking by eating nutrient dense foods. This has been a great way to jumped start new habits.” – Carolyn H.
“After years of trying to figure out which foods cause problems to my digestive system, I wanted to try detoxing and then introducing foods back to try to figure out what is causing my bloating and gas. My daughter, Kari, utilized the program for 6 months and raved about how good it was. I was fearful of giving up my comfort foods, but it stretched my taste, cooking skills and knowledge of vegetables and foods. The recipes were great. It was well organized. Thank you”. – Bev S.
